Back to college....
So now that all the school holidays and public holidays are over, well just about, its back to work again. I trust that everyone had a fabulous Easter with friends and family. I found working at home a lot more challenging than at college. Discipline is key. Suprisingly, I am quite excited to get back to college and get into the swing of things again. Sewing by myself, I found not as enjoyable as at college with everyone around chatting and just creating an overall festive ambience. I have finally finished my pair of jeans for my first outfit of the collection however I must admit i'm struggling with my military styled jacket, if only mevrou was within reaching distance 24/7. Hopefully this week in class it will start taking shape and I will end up with a beautiful tailored jacket to show. I look very forward working hard this term and achieve all goals set.
Styling fashion photoshoot
These are a few images of the photoshoot I did last year. My good friend Abigail is the model featured in these photographs, she gave up her time to help assist me with this task. A series of eight different outfits were created and styled. We did the photoshoot just outside of Houtbay, on the hill overlooking the whole of Hout bay in the Ruins, a few old ancient buildings dating back many years ago. These old, broken down buildings were amazing and the overall site was beautiful with an exquisite view of the ocean.

Abbey Lee is one of my favourite all time supermodels. I find her so pure, unusual and naturally beautiful and I absolutely love her style and fashion sense.
Here are some of my favourite images of her.

What"s new?
This past week at home is just what I needed to rejuvenate and clear my mind. Drive and focus is the main aim of the game this term. Starting my collection is not only going to be exciting but extremely hard work and I find myself determined to make the most exquisite collection I possibly can. Due to my collection revolving around Levi's Denim Jeans, my theme remains "Denim Devotions" with each outfit having at least one item of denim within it. Soemthing exciting, I was able to find my ideal source of stoned wash denim which will be used throughout my collection. Also the storyboards for my collection are in progress as I speak. Nine storyboards were required, with eighteen rendered fashion figures back and front. I have kept very busy this holiday, both relaxing however constantly reminded of the workload due next term. It should be very interesting to see how fellow class mates deal with the stress of deadlines individually. I look very much forward to starting the new term with a big bang!

Where did time go?
I can't believe how quickly this term has gone with holidays coming up everyone is finally getting the chance to slowly unwind from the hectic workload we've had over the past few months. This term has honestly flown, Fedisa keeping me on my toes and concentrating on our graduate collections. Third year has been a big challenge so far having work up to my ears . A holiday is much needed! However I look forward to next term and finally creating my very own sophisticated and structured collection.

JOHN GALLIANO
JOHN GALLIANO SCANDAL
John Galliano, former Christian Dior fashion designer, is said to have apologised for his offensive remarks towards the jewish community. Galliano’s comments “ I love Hitler” where the words that highly offended jewish foke sitting behind him in a cafĂ© in Paris. Galiano, the world-famous British designer continued to tell customers that they would have been dead and gassed back in the day of Hitlers ruling.
The Anti-Defamation League director, Danielle Kubes says she is looking forward to working with Galliano, helping him repair his damaged name after he took responsibility for his actions and publicly apologised for his insulting comments, “I know that I must face up to my own failures.”.
The European Jewish Press national director has said that he looks forward to help Galliano repair vocal damage and win the fight against prejudice, intolerance and discrimination.
After these statements were released, fashion house, Christian Dior headed by Bernard Arnault, one of France’s wealthiest men suspended Galliano, protecting this fashion house’s name and reputation after complaints were made by a couple claiming abusive remarks were made. John Galliano was Dior’s star designer. Dior announced that their decision was based on the release of the video of Galliano.
Galliano was suspended when the video surfaced just before his release of his new autumn-winter designs were brought out for his ready-to-wear collection for the upcoming Paris Fashion Week. Dior acted quickly, showing protecting the brand by proving to the public that this sort of behaviour is not tolerated with this fashion house. It is said that Galliano was under the influence of alcohol and is not the type of person for snotty remarks and that the whole situationwas most probably a big misunderstanding.
Natalie Portman, who advertises a Dior Perfume stated, “As an individual who is proud to be Jewish, I will not be associated with Mr Galliano in any way.’’ After this comment from Oscar-winning actress was released, Dior took initiative to suspend Galliano. Fellow friend, graduating with John Galliano from St Martin’s, elite fashion and art college said he had known Galliano for years and never knew he was anti-Semitic. Dior is one of my favourite fashion brands ever, what a pity for this to happen hopefully Dior will restore its world wide fashion label.
